American House Cleaners Association (AHCA), announces explains how proper deep cleaning can save lives during this pandemic
Grace Reynolds, President of the American House Cleaners Association, AHCA, warns about the importance of deep-cleaning in the current moment of a pandemic. “Proper deep-cleaning of our homes right now will increase our Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and is something that every American should do immediately. This could potentially save tens of thousands of American lives over the next 18 months.”
Those communities with lower air quality conditions are in higher risk all over the United States and worldwide, as respiratory problems increase and the jeopardy for health, in general, is much bigger when people suffer from simultaneous infections or other diseases, thus increasing the number of patients in hospitals and the number of deceased.
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health has published a study in which an increased death rate of 15% is calculated for places with higher air contamination, using SARS-CoV-2 as a reference, and COVID-19 can perfectly have the same effect, even in higher proportions as it is in its raising curve right now.
To this date, April 17, 2020, only outdoor air quality has been taken into account in studies, but indoor air pollution levels can worsen the contagion and health conditions much more. As Americans usually spend about 90% of their everyday lives indoors, their risk of contagion increases from two to five times, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA).
Therefore, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that frequent sanitization of homes and offices must be made, in order to reduce the organic matter and general pollutants of air quality. Dust, fungi, microbes, insect feces, urine residue, etc, are to be eliminated as much as possible, thus helping to a reduction of COVID-19 contagion.
