John D. Cleaning has, during its years of experience, learned a lot of cleaning tips that can be useful for you at home. This one, for instance, is particularly important:
Nobody enjoys doing laundry, but it’s one of the necessities of life. Having the laundry room and supplies more organized may not make it more enjoyable, but it will make the work go quicker. It may take some time to adjust to a new system. If everyone in the family helps, it’ll soon be something that will save time for everyone, allowing more time for family fun.
If you have a schedule set up for when you do laundry, such as jeans on Saturday and whites on Wednesday, make sure your family does their part to pre-sort their laundry. Get different colored baskets or hampers, and show them what goes where. Go a step farther and show them where the stain stick is kept so that they can pre-treat stains in advance of laundry day.
Have all your detergents and fabric softeners stored near the washer and drier. It’s easy to build a shelf near them if one isn’t already there.
Hang up a calendar or whiteboard and make note of a schedule for cleaning out the vent areas of your dryer. One smart mom photographed dry clean only clothing items like her husband’s best suit and her favorite blouse and taped them to her whiteboard with a reminder that these items don’t belong in the washer should they ever end up in a basket by accident.
Set up a portable clothing rack with a good supply of hangers so that items can be taken straight from the dryer and placed on the hangers. This will save you time in ironing later.
Keep baskets or boxes in your laundry room to sort items of clothing that need to be fixed or clothes that you know are too small, or out of season. If you use special boxes for storing out-of-season clothes when it’s time to switch, take them out on laundry day, and sort as you finish each load. If things are too small, box them up until you decide what to do with them.
